- 1970 - Curt Flood files his famous lawsuit against baseball's reserve system.
- 1974 - Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford are elected to the Hall of Fame.
- 2000 - The Kintetsu Buffaloes announce plans to have fans vote on the club's Opening Day lineup
- 2001 - Dave Winfield (pictured) and Kirby Puckett are voted into the Hall of Fame.
