- 1964 - The Nankai Hawks work out a deal to send three players, including Masanori Murakami (pictured) to the San Francisco Giants to play in the minors, leading to an international brouhaha over the next two years.
- 1972 - Bernice Gera wins her lawsuit to become the first female umpire in Organized Baseball.
- 1982 - Hank Aaron and Frank Robinson are elected into the Hall of Fame.
- 1995 - Baseball's executive council votes to approve the use of replacement players if there is no resolution to the ongoing strike.
- 2009 - Tsutomu Wakamatsu and three others are elected to the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame.
