November 28: Today's featured birthday is that of Corky Withrow, who turns 87.
- 1916 - The New York Yankees purchase the contract of Home Run Baker from the Philadelphia Athletics for $37,500. Baker had sat out the 1915 season due to a salary dispute.
- 1945 - Billy Southworth Jr. dies in a plane crash during military drills. Southworth, a former minor league outfielder, was the first player from Organized Baseball to join the armed services for World War II.
- 1956 - Pedro Ramos beats the Criollos de Caguas to give Cienfuegos a 4-2 victory in the deciding game of the 1956 Caribbean Series. It will be the first of five consecutive Caribbean Series titles by a team from the Cuban Winter League.
- 1960 - In the last Caribbean Series by a team from Cuba this century, Cienfuegos takes home the fifth straight title by a club from that island in winning the 1960 Caribbean Series. Camilo Pascual leads the way with a dazzling one-hit shutout of the Criollos de Caguas in a rematch of the 1956 clubs.
- 1994 - Ila Borders becomes the first woman to pitch in a college baseball game in the USA, appearing for Southern California College.
