- 1930 - In the first night game in Organized Baseball history, the Muskogee Chiefs top the Independence Producers, 13-3.
- 1952 - The St. Louis Browns become the first Major League team to loan or sell players to a team outside of North America. They send John Britton and Jimmy Newberry to the Hankyu Braves in a deal brokered by Abe Saperstein of Harlem Globetrotters fame.
- 1989 - Rickey Henderson homers to lead off a game for the 36th time in his career, breaking Bobby Bonds' major league record.
- 1998 - Hideo Nomo goes deep, becoming the first Japanese player in Major League Baseball history to sock a home run. The victim is Jose Mercedes.
- 2006 - Kevin Mench (pictured) hits a home run for the seventh consecutive game, becoming the first right-handed batter in major league history to have done so.
