Biographical Information[edit]
Taylor Motter began his professional career in 2011. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 17th round of the 2011 amateur draft; the scout was Brad Matthews. He reached Triple-A for the first time in 2015.
He hit .314/.425/.479 with 23 steals, 34 walks and only 30 strikeouts in 49 games his first season, split between the Princeton Rays (46 G) and Bowling Green Hot Rods. With Bowling Green in 2012, Motter's batting average fell 70 points, but he still stole 24 bases. In 2013, he raised his average 50 points from 2011 and swiped 20 bags between the GCL Rays (4 G) and Charlotte Stone Crabs (67 G). He slugged 16 home runs in 2014 to go along with 15 steals for the Montgomery Biscuits and in 2015, he hit .292/366/.471 with 14 home runs, 72 RBI and 26 steals in 127 games for the Triple-A Durham Bulls. Entering 2016, Baseball America named him the #22 prospect in the Rays chain.
He was a Post-Season All-Star in 2011, 2014 and 2015; a Mid-Season All-Star in 2014 and 2015; a Baseball America Triple-A All-Star in 2015 and in 2014, he was the All-Star Game Top Star.
