Biographical Information[edit]
Taylor Bloye played college ball with the Covenant College Scots from 2014-2018. He was part of the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance and USA South Athletic Conference championship in 2014. In his final season as a Scot, Bloye struck out 56 in 48.2 innings and held the opposition to a .224 batting average. His 10.36 strikeouts per nine innings in 2018 ranked third in single-season program history.
After graduating from Covenant, Bloye embarked on a professional playing career that saw him play for nine different teams in five years. He played in independent leagues in 2018-2019 before COVID-19 wiped out the 2020 season. Bloye spent the winter of 2020/2021 playing for the Sydney Blue Sox in the Australian Baseball League. He went back to the United States in 2021 and played for four different teams starting in the independent Pioneer League. Following a pair of excellent starts for the Billings Mustangs, the Kansas City Royals signed him to a minor league contract. Bloye became the first player in Covenant College history to sign with a Major League Baseball team.[1] The Cinderella story ended there, however. Bloye returned to the independent leagues in 2022 to finish out his playing career.
Bloye turned to coaching in 2023 and returned to the Royals organization as an assistant pitching coach for the Columbia Fireflies. He moved up to the Quad Cities River Bandits in 2024 in the same role. The Royals promoted Bloye to pitching coach of the Fireflies for the 2025 season.
