Biographical Information[edit]
Tan Chiu played in the CPBL for 6 years.
Chiu hit .290/.324/.452 with six RBI in eight games in the 2017 U-18 Baseball World Cup, and also stole 2 bases. His best outing was a 4-for-5 and falling a homer shy of a cycle to win over Nicaragua in September 6. He tied for the team lead in RBI with Tien-Hsin Kuo. His eight runs tied Triston Casas and Felipe Aguilar for 8th in the event. [1] He was picked by the Lamigo Monkeys in the 3rd round of the 2020 CPBL draft. [2] Chiu spent most of his time in the minors on the first two years in his career. In 2021, the young outfielder finally broke out, and hit .258/.313/.339 with 3 dingers. He was perfect on defense, as he didn't make any errors in 186 fielding chances, and won his first Gold Glove award. However, when Chin Cheng secured the outfield starting spot with a better batting performance, Chiu only played 59 games with a .262/.305/.300 batting line in the next year.[3] Chiu mainly stayed in the minors in 2023, and he only played 25 games with a .307/.319/.398 batting line. On June 10, 2024, Chiu was caught drunk driving and the Monkeys released him.
Overall, Chiu hit .263/.312/.333 with 143 hits and 3 homers in 6 seasons in the CPBL.
