Talk:Sammy Sosa
Forgotten by Sosa's critics in the midst of steroid controversy and a precipitous decline since June 2003's corked bat incident are his love of the game, his gracious attitude toward the media, and most importantly the fact that he is simply the most prolific home run hitter of his time. Those who claim that "the juice" made Sosa a star should remember that he gained 5 pounds between 1997 and 1998--- and 57 points on his batting average. The real reason for Sosa's success is closely tied to the reason for his failure: He worked furiously at times to become a better hitter, and at other times he simply forgot this devotion. In spite of this lack of consistency, Sosa is headed for the Hall of Fame, and that is exactly where he belongs. Remember also that he is still the only (cough, cough) human in history with three sixty homerun seasons.
I don't know if here in Texas we're dreamers, but this is certainly not the first time we've hired people who don't seem to have a chance and/or may cause distractions... David - 17:35 CST, 7 Feb. 2007
If Sosa's monthly NL home run record has been broken, I presume it should be removed from records held, right? - --Mischa (talk) 12:09, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
