Talk:Juan Parra
I wonder if this is the same guy as Franklin Parra - same birthdate, last name, birthplace. Franklin is missing 1999 (he was in Mexico in '98 and 2000), when Juan was active. Juan's storyline just doesn't match what one expects - comes from nowhere at age 28 to star for a year in Taiwan, then vanish. Anyone want to research this? - --Mischa 14:34, 12 October 2009 (EDT)
milb.com has Franklin Parra as hitting coach of the DSL Giants in 2019 after Juan Parra in 2017-2018. 7/8/72 BD, not 71. Franklin was listed in 2016 also. Jeff (talk) 08:39, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
Yep, Franklin and Juan are the same guy. The 2019 Giants Media Guide confirms this, saying he was in the Rangers chain from 1990-1995, Mets chain in 1997, Mexico in 1998 and Taiwan in 1999. It says it's his 6th season as hitting coach of the DSL Giants. - Mischa (talk) 16:07, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
Juan is much bigger than Franklin. Which one is correct? Jeff (talk) 16:47, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
The height is only 1" off, which is probably a rounding issue. And for a player to gain 25 pounds over a decade is not unusual so both weights may have been accurate at different times - Mischa (talk) 18:27, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
FWIW, Taiwan Baseball Wiki lists a height and weight that equate to 6' 1", 190 lb. - Mischa (talk) 18:31, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
