Talk:Joe Torre

There is a Joe Torre listed as a scout for the Orioles in the 1969 Guide. Anyone know if its a family member? --Just me 23:26, 16 January 2007 (EST)

During Torre's big year in '71, the Cards were playing my Padres, and we had seats right on the 3rd base dugout. The roof was wood planks, and you could lean over and see through the cracks into the dugout. Torre hit a home run, and when he got back into the dugout I heard him say something like "That's another case of Beefeater." He must've won a bet. I despise the Yankees, but during his years there I could never feel anything but respect for Torre. What weird irony that in his long playing career he never played a post-season game, and in his brother's very short career Frank won a World Series ring. All the sweeter that Joe has had such post-season success.
