Talk:Harry Daughtry

From BR Bullpen

His contract card lists "Oak Ridge Academy," which I assume means Oak Ridge Military Academy, as Daughtry is from NC and the academy is in NC. Alex (talk) 16:05, 10 September 2023 (UTC)

The school changed name to Oak Ridge Military Institute in 1929. It would have been called Oak Ridge Institute at the time Daughtry was there. All according to wikipedia Jeff (talk) 16:34, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
As we've seen with other schools, however, official titles and short-hand/unofficial names often do not mesh, and history often forgets the latter, or slowly morphs the former. I'm not entirely sure whether you're agreeing that the school listed as "Oak Ridge Academy" is the same as "Oak Ridge Military Academy" or not, however as far as I can tell the circumstantial evidence available makes it a pretty good guess that it is. I do think its the same school. Its clear that it was not called Oak Ridge Military Academy at the time he was there. So it would make perfect sense that the contract card would say "Oak Ridge Academy" if it was indeed the same school. Jeff (talk) 17:29, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
I gotcha. Alex (talk) 22:31, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
