Talk:Harry Chiti
PTBNL[edit]
The story about Chiti being traded for himself is apocryphal. One only need check is baseball-reference page to confirm that. Chiti's contract was sold from the Cubs to the Mets. He was later demoted to the minors, then his contract was sold back to the Cubs.
In 1962, catcher Harry Chiti was purchased by the New York Mets from the Cleveland Indians and returned two months later. For the next 45 years later, people would claim he was traded for himself as a player to be named later.
Chiti missed the 1953-1954 seasons due to military service.
Chiti was the father of big league coach Dom Chiti.
