It looks like there was a Thomas Roberts who was a baseball arbitrator at this time - are we sure this link (and that from arbitrator) refer to John and not Thomas? - Mischa (talk) 13:36, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

It's a mistake. The arbitrator was Thomas T. Roberts. I traced the mistake to This Day in Baseball [1], which was one of the original sources for the bullpen's calendar, which has John Roberts as the arbitrator's name (and any attempt at googling this tends to be tainted by the current Supreme Court Chief Justice for some reason).
