Talk:Arvernes de Clermont-Ferrand

From BR Bullpen

I tried reducing the image size of the stadium, but because it's png file, it didn't like that and gave me an error message. If someone wants to convert it to a jpg I think we'd have better luck, the filesize would be smaller and it would be easier to work with...--Oaktree b 20:07, 30 December 2008 (EST)

Unrelated note - we don't have set notability standards for Division Elite. As 2006/2007 seasons were not even at that level, I don't think players should be linked to for those seasons. - --Mischa 20:13, 30 December 2008 (EST)

For whatever reason, the jpg I converted from the png gives an error when trying to resize also. --Jeff 21:56, 30 December 2008 (EST)

The Arvernes website has headshots of all the players in Div. Elite for 2008, can we use them under fair use? I don't want to copy the dozen or so that are on their website if it's gonna be a copyright violation. I could always email them and ask if they'd give us permission under a cc or gfdl license to use them (or perhaps under the CeCill license, which is identical to GFDL, but used in France [I've seen it used on the French wikipedia]).

I suggest emailing them to see if they'll allow usage. - --Mischa 15:32, 31 December 2008 (EST)

Ok I emailed the club, and they responded: "Not a problem. signed by Olivier Charlionet, Administrave Head of the BSCC"

Basically, I asked if we can use any images from the Division Elite players on their website to illustrate the article on each player, and the response was positive. They will release the images under the Creative Commons Sharealike license ver. 2.0.

I'll post the email on my talk/user page for future reference. Great news! --Oaktree b 21:00, 6 January 2009 (EST)

I'm uploading all the player images first, then I'll work on their bios. It's too much of a hassle to try doing both at once.--Oaktree b 22:41, 7 January 2009 (EST)

I also wonder if that Olivier Charlionet fellow that answered my email is the same one that pitches for them. I think he is, but I'm not sure. I get the impression most of these teams are pretty small compared to your average MLB outfit. --Oaktree b 22:12, 13 January 2009 (EST)

I once emailed the Canadian baseball federation with a question about Orv Franchuk and Jim Baba was the one who replied. That let me ask him questions about his career as well. - --Mischa 08:29, 14 January 2009 (EST)
