He pitched 3 2/3 shutout innings in the 1952 Nippon Series Game 1, and he was named the starter of Game 4. Hattori allowed 3 runs in 4 innings, and Takehiko Bessho got the win over him. The Giants beat the Hawks again in 6 games. He never had another productive season as a starter after the 1952 season, and he changed teams 3 times. Hattori only pitched 23 games combined in the next five seasons, and he announced his retirement in 1958.

Overall, Hattori was 26-18 with a 2.75 ERA, struck out 187 and pitched 415 1/3 innings in 7 years in NPB.
