Biographical Information[edit]
Takehiro Tsujino has played for the Japanese national team.
Tsujino played for Honda in the industrial leagues after college. He played for the Japanese Amateur Baseball Association team in the 2017 Asia Winter League. He led the industrial leagues in average in 2018 (.460) and was named to the Best Nine as the top catcher. He was with Japan for the 2018 Asian Games. Moved to right field with Ryo Kinami at catcher, he drove in four in the opening win over Pakistan and kept on rolling, finishing the main round at .462/.500/.769 with 5 runs and 5 RBI in 5 games while handling two putouts. He was 7th in the round in average, tied for 4th in OBP and 7th in slugging (between Jawad Ali and Joe Daru). On Japan, only Sho Aoyagi had a better average or OPS. In the Gold Medal Game, he was as stymied as the rest of Japan's hitters by the South Korean national team, going 0 for 3 as his club got one-hit to settle for Silver. He then was back in the Asia Winter League for 2018.
