Biographical Information[edit]
Sho Aoyagi played for the Japanese national team.
After college, he played for Osaka Gas in the industrial leagues. [1] In the 2018 Asian Games, he debuted against Pakistan, going 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs and a RBI while playing short. He was 3 for 3 against South Korea, when his teammates managed three hits combined. He hit .667/.714/.667 in four games in the main round, easily leading in average (.167 ahead of Jawad Ali), while tying Ali, Jin Yang, Zhenhong Lu and Byung-ho Park) for second with eight hits (two behind Jung-hoo Lee). He led in OBP, .135 ahead of Shoji Kitamura. He was 3-for-3 in steals, tying Rizki Ramadan for second in swipes, one behind Tsun-Wai Yung, and leading those who were not caught stealing. He fielded .950 at short. In the Gold Medal Game, he was 0 for 3 against South Korea, but his team eked out just one hit. [2]
Aoyagi helped Japan take Silver in the 2019 Asian Championship as well. Backing up at SS and 3B, he was 4 for 9 with 4 walks, two doubles, four runs and three RBI while handling 13 chances error-free. His best game was 3-for-4 against Sri Lanka. [3]
