Biographical Information[edit]

Takehiro Ishikawa played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 14 years.

Ishikawa represented Japan in the 2004 World Junior Championship. He was drafted by the Yokohama BayStars in the 6th round of the in the 2004 NPB draft, and he spent his first 3 seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues; he only got 26 at-bats combined with the big club. Ishikawa hit .243/.262/.309 with 10 steals in 2008, and he collected 19 steals with a .242/.267/.300 batting line in 2009. He then secured the starting shortstop spot in 2010, and he hit .294/.324/.361 with 36 steals and 6 triples. Ishikawa was 3rd in triples (tied with Takashi Toritani) and 2nd in steals (7 behind Eishin Soyogi).

The Shizuoka native slumped to .260/.307/.288 in 2011, and he also committed 13 errors. He missed half of the 2012 season due to finger injury, and his batting line was .285/.351/.342. Ishikawa set the team record for having 8 straight multi-hit game in 2013, and he recorded a .275/.357/.351 batting line. He played 138 games with a career-high 7 homers and a .248/.306/.346 batting line in 2014, and he hit .259/.306/.297 in 2015. Ishikawa slumped to .209/.258/.269 in 2016, and he hit .246/.306/.323 in 63 games 2017. He didn't got more than 50 appearances in the next two seasons, and his batting line was .230/.322/.243 and .208/.252/.317 respectively. He announced his retirement in 2020.

Overall, Ishikawa hit .256/.305/.318 with 1,003 hits and 23 homers in 14 seasons in NPB.
