Biographical Information[edit]

Takamasa Matsui played in Japan and Taiwan for 8 years combined.

Matsui was signed by the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks in 1988, but he didn't play a single game for their big club. The Hawks traded him with Kiyotaka Nishi to the Hiroshima Carp for Shingo Motomura and Soichiro Sakakibara after the 1990 season, and he hit .227/.227/.545 in 1991. However, Matsui slumped to .083/.154/.083 in 1992, and he was traded to the Chunichi Dragons for Koji Kobayakawa. Matsui only got 32 at-bats combined in the next four seasons, and he was released. The Chiba Lotte Marines picked him up, but he went 0-for-3 in 1996 and he was released again. Matsui then signed with the Uni-President Lions of the CPBL, and he hit .288/.374/.381 in 58 games in 1998.

Overall, Matsui had hit .159/.205/.319 with 11 hits in 7 seasons in the NPB.
