Biographical Information[edit]

Taiga Hirasawa has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Hirasawa represented Japan in the 2015 U-18 Baseball World Cup, hitting .258/.324/.355 with ten RBI in nine games, handling 26 chances error-free for the Silver Medalists. He tied Tristan King for 5th in the tourney in RBI and tied Kobe Hyland and An-Ko Lin for 4th in double plays (6). He was named the All-Tournament shortstop. [1] The Chiba Lotte Marines and the Rakuten Golden Eagles both selected him in the first round of the 2015 NPB draft; the Marines won the lottery for the right to him. Hirasawa was 7-for-47 in 2016, then he hit .176/.222/.235 in 50 games in 2017. He improved to .213/.328/.330 with 5 homers in 2018, but he struggled with the Auckland Tuatara in the 2018-2019 ABL (5 for 30, 2 2B, 7 BB, 14 K) and again in 2019 as his batting line was .198/.291/.286. Hirasawa only played 13 games combined with the big club in the next three seasons, and he batted .170/.311/.244 in 57 games in 2023. Hirasawa was placed in the minors again in 2024, and the Seibu Lions selected him in the 2024 NPB Active draft.
