Biographical Information[edit]

Tadami Futamura played in the Nippon Pro Baseball for 11 years.

Futamura was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the third round of the 1982 NPB draft, and he soon became their starting leftfielder. He hit .282/.324/.459 with 13 homers, and won the Pacific League Rookie of the Year Award. Futamura extended his solid batting, as he recorded a .258/.303/.405 batting line with 12 homers in 1984, then hit .225/.298/.412 with 13 homers in 1985. He set the Pacific League record by grounding into a double play three times in a game on August 4, 1986. The Fukuoka native still had a .249/.296/.402 batting line with 10 homers in 1986, but that was his last productive season. He slumped to .221/.288/.276 in 1987, then struggled as his batting line was .194/.263/.288 and .207/.263/.329 respectively. The Fighters traded him to the Taiyo Whales for Tetsuji Okamoto after the 1989 season, but he only played 80 games combined for their big club and the Whales released him in 1992. The Fighters picked him back up, but Futamura only got 45 at-bats in 1993 then he announced his retirement.

Overall, Futamura had hit .238/.294/.377 with 64 homers and 469 hits in 11 seasons in NPB.
