T. Hunt Stuckey
T. Hunt Stuckey became the owner of the Louisville Colonels of the American Association when he bought the team at auction on November 16, 1891 due to an unpaid $6,359.40 mortgage. This was just before a merger with the National League in which the Colonels joined the senior circuit in 1892.
Stuckey was a medical doctor who had been named team president of the financially-troubled club in August of 1891, replacing Lawrence Parsons. His purchase of the team allowed him to retain the presidency, although he only had a minority ownership share (one Larry Gatto was the largest owner). He sold these, as did Gatto, following the the 1892 season, with Fred Dexler, Jr. becoming principal owner until Barney Dreyfuss, a local distiller, and Harry C. Pulliam would take over ownership in 1895 and both move on to greater fame with the Pittsburgh Pirates. As for Stuckey, little else is known about him.
