Biographical Information[edit]
Shortstop Sylvester Olson played in the minor leagues from 1904 to 1911. Consistency was his calling card -- he had no fewer than 106 hits and no more than 138 hits in a season. Perhaps his best campaign was 1910 with the Richmond Pioneers. That year, he hit .281 with 131 hits and 27 doubles in 122 games. He also hit .288 with 138 hits in 122 games for the Topeka Saints in 1904. Per records available, he hit .259 with 855 hits in 875 games over eight seasons.
He managed the Pioneers for the latter part of the 1911 campaign, replacing Connie Lewis.
