Biographical Information[edit]
Connie Lewis began his playing career with the Greenville Grays in 1903 and played until 1910. He then became a manager, beginning as the skipper of the Richmond Pioneers in 1911, before being replaced by Sylvester Olson partway through the year. He then replaced Earl Zook of the Manistee Colts to finish the 1911 campaign; the Colts finished in first place. He then led the Manistee Champs to two straight first-place finishes in 1912 and 1913.
He umpired in the Virginia League in 1914 and is also listed by his Sporting News contract card as a manager of Manistee.[1] In 1915, he began as the manager of the Columbia Comers, but was replaced partway through the year by Doug Harbison. He then umpired in various minor leagues in the early- and mid-1920s.
