Biographical Information[edit]

Sylvain Hervieux was a member of the French national team for several years. He was 1 for 7 with a double, four walks, two steals and three runs in the 1993 European Championship and 1 for 5 with a walk as a backup center fielder in the 1993 Intercontinental Cup. In the 1994 Baseball World Cup, the 21-year-old flyhawk took over as the starting CF and was 3 for 18 with a double, 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. He starred in the 1995 European Championship, going 10 for 17 with a walk, 4 doubles, 2 home runs, 7 runs and 11 RBI in 5 games. He tied for 6th in homers, tied for 8th in RBI, tied for first in doubles, tied teammate Arnaud Fau for 5th in OBP and led in both average and slugging. He was somehow left off the tournament All-Star team.

In the 1997 Intercontinental Cup, Hervieux went 4 for 15 with 3 walks as the French center fielder. He was 10th in the 1997 European Championship in slugging (.733). He batted .333/.421/.625 in the 1999 European Championship. He only hit .214 with a .353 OBP in the 2001 European Championship but still led the event with 10 runs.

He plays outfield and is the team captain for the Templiers de Sénart of the Division Elite in 2008. He had hit .270/.333/.339 in 2007 and announced his retirement, but returned to the field in '08. He hit .235/.362/.343 that year.
