Biographical Information[edit]

Sy Berger was a baseball card pioneer. He co-designed the 1952 Topps set, the first full set designed and printed by the company. His design choices - player name, photo, facsimile autograph, player demographic data and statistics and a short biography - are still used on baseball cards today.

He was honored by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in 1988 and was inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.

He served with the Army Air Forces during World War II.
