Susumu Sakudo was a catcher and outfielder for 7 seasons in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Sakudo debuted with the 1967 Toei Flyers, getting into one game and not batting. He was 3 for 20 with 2 doubles in 22 games in 1968 and one for 3 with his first run in 1969. In a career-high 66 games in 1970, he batted .239/.265/.376 with his first 15 RBI and 3 home runs. He also drew his first four walks.
Sakudo batted .164/.220/.273 in 49 games in 1973, was 6 for 33 with a double, homer and 4 walks in 1972 and finished up by going 3 for 12 in 1973. His last career home run was a notable one - in a May 3, 1972 game, he teamed with Tsuyoshi Oshita, Yutaka Ohashi, Isao Harimoto and Katsuo Osugi for five straight homers by Toei, a NPB record.
Overall, Sakudo hit .207/.252/.328 in 246 plate appearances and 179 games in NPB.
