Biographical Information[edit]

Susumu Mikoshiba was a pitcher for the Hanshin Tigers for 14 years.

Mikoshiba was drafted in the fourth round of the 1982 NPB draft. He was 1-0 with one run in seven innings in 1983 then gave up six runs in 7 1/3 innings in 1984. In 1985, he allowed three runs but ten hits in 5 2/3 innings. He was 0-1 with a 1.89 ERA in 14 games in 1986. The next year, Susumu finally won a regular role in Hanshin's bullpen, working 42 games. He went 0-2 with a save and a 3.00 ERA, walking only 13 in 66 innings.

The submarine hurler was 3-6 with a 3.06 ERA in 1988 and 2-4 with a 3.58 ERA in 1989. He saw limited action in 1990 (1-0, 2.30 in 15 G) and 1991 (1-0, 3.98 in 9 G). In 1992, Mikoshiba was 1-2 with a 1.53 ERA, .227 opponent average and only 11 walks in 59 innings.

The Nagano native was 5-2 with a save and a 3.25 ERA in 41 games in 1993 and 4-7 with a 4.24 ERA in 23 games in 1994. He only pitched five games in 1995 (13 H, 7 R in 7 2/3 IP, 0-2) and three in 1997 (3 R in 1 1/3 IP).

Overall, the right-hander was 18-26 with two saves and a 3.30 ERA in 251 games in Nippon Pro Baseball.
