Biographical Information[edit]

Sun-woong Lee played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 10 years.

Lee played for South Korea in the 1982 Amateur World Series, helping them win their first global baseball title. The OB Bears selected him in the first round of the 1983 KBO draft, but they soon traded his rights to the Sammi Superstars. Lee hit .223/.258/.307 in his first season, then he only played 16 games in 1984. He broke out in 1985 after the Superstars became the Chungbo Pintos, and he played 97 games with a .300/.357/.418 batting line in that season. Lee was the only .300 hitter in Chungbo's history, and he was 10th in batting average (between Sang-hun Kim and Yu-keun Kim) and 8th in doubles (tied with Jun-hwan Kim). He struggled in 1986, and his batting line was .141/.203/.180.

The Seoul native bounced back in 1987, and he hit .257/.330/.309 in 90 games. He recorded a .309/.380/.359 batting line in 1988 (the team was now the Pacific Dolphins), then his batting line fell to .239/.324/.298 in 1989. Lee played a career-high 120 games with a .260/.328/.300 batting line in 1990, and he batted .234/.300/.333 in 1991. He had a .239/.304/.317 batting line in 1992, then he announced his retirement. He was the batting coach of the Dolphins from 1995 to 1997.

Overall, Lee hit .253/.319/.323 with 666 hits and 23 homers in 10 seasons in the KBO.
