Biographical Information[edit]

Yu-keun Kim played for the South Korean national team that won the 1977 Intercontinental Cup, South Korea's first global title. When the Korea Baseball Organization was formed in 1982, he was an inaugural player for the Haitai Tigers. He hit .189/.275/.308 and stole 11 bases in 12 tries. He split 1983 between Haitai and the Sammi Superstars, batting .186/~.208/.186 in 72 plate appearances.

The next year, he hit .263/.337/.341 and stole 15 bases in 17 tries. He was tied for 7th in the 1984 KBO in swipes and tied for 9th with 3 triples. In 1985, he was the leadoff man for the Chungbo Pintos, producing at a .288/.366/.383 clip with 62 runs in 106 games and stealing 31 bases in 45 tries. He was 7th in the league in runs, tied Man-soo Lee for 5th in hits (115), was 7th in doubles (21), ranked 3rd in walks (49, behind Koo-seon Jeong and Hyo-jo Jang) and tied Soon-chul Lee for 3rd in steals.

Kim played for the MBC Blue Dragons in 1986, hitting .227/.295/.280. He batted .275/.367/.333 in 84 plate appearances in 1987. For his career, he had hit .253/~.328/.334 and stolen 65 bases in 90 tries.
