Biographical Information[edit]
Stu Scheurwater is a major league umpire. He was added to the permanent umpiring staff at the start of the 2018 season, to fill the spot left open by the retirement of Dale Scott. He was the first full-time Canadian umpire since the retirement of Jim McKean in 2001.
His first appearance in a major league game was in 2014 and he worked over 250 games before his promotion at the start of 2018. In 2017, he worked the equivalent of a full season as a fill-in umpire, with 153 games. He began working in the minor leagues in 2007 and was in major league spring training for the first time in 2013. He worked the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
