Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Steve Staniland was drafted in the 5th round of the 1973 amateur draft by the Oakland A's. He promptly tied for the Northwest League lead with 8 losses.
On May 18, 1975 the A's sent a player to be named later and Staniland to the St. Louis Cardinals for Ted Martinez. The Athletics sent Mike Barlow on May 23 to the Cardinals to complete the trade.
Staniland spent 1975-1976 in the Texas League getting 4 appearance in AAA in 1975. He was listed on the Cardinals 1977 spring roster, but never made the majors.
