Biographical Information[edit]
Steve Ontiveros was signed as a 2nd round pick in the 1982 amateur draft by the Oakland A's and scout Frank Franchi and scouting director Dick Wiencek. He became what is likely one of the least-remembered ERA title winners in history, pacing the American League with a 2.65 mark in the strike-shortened 1994 campaign. After an All-Star 1995, he disappeared from the majors, only to resurface briefly with the Boston Red Sox in 2000.
Ontiveros succeeded Bruce Hurst as pitching coach for the Chinese national team. He was with them for the 2008 Olympics.
Notable Achievements[edit]
