Biographical Information

Outfielder Steve Kolinsky made his professional baseball debut in 1964, hitting .217 for the Miami Marlins. He improved to .251 the next year, then at age 22 hit .287 in AA for the 1966 Macon Peaches. In '67, he only appeared briefly with the Tidewater Tides (3 for 5) and the Reading Phillies (.222/~.286/.267 in 45 AB). Kolinsky hit .215 for Reading in 1968.

In 1969, Steve had a fine .335/~.425/.506 with 28 steals in 32 tries and 8 triples. He did not get enough plate appearances to qualify for the Eastern League batting title; his .335 would have ranked first. He moved on to the Pawtucket Red Sox in 1970 and had another productive EL year at .285/~.388/.460 with 16 homers. He wrapped up his playing career with the 1971 Winston-Salem Red Sox by hitting .305/~.414/.465.

After retiring, Kolinsky taught and coached at Cheltenham High School.

After serving as a scout for the Chicago Cubs, Kolinsky managed the Huntington Cubs in 1993, guiding the club to a 33-35 finish. In his second season at the helm, Huntington fell to 28-39.
