Biographical Information[edit]
Steve Hecht was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the fifth round of the 1987 amateur draft. He had been on the Team USA that won the Silver Medal in the 1987 Pan American Games. He played eight seasons of minor league ball in the Giants, Montreal Expos, Texas Rangers, and Detroit Tigers organizations, and he reached the AAA level in six of those years. He retired following the 1995 season.
After his playing days, Hecht was Performance Coach for the Rangers from 2006 to 2008. In 2009, he assumed the same duties with the Seattle Mariners but was fired on August 9, 2010 along with manager Don Wakamatsu and coaches Ty Van Burkleo and Rick Adair.
