Steve Gliner

Steve Gliner is the General Manager of the Fort Myers Miracle in the Florida State League.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Steve Gliner is most famous for being involved in one of the most bizarre transactions in baseball history when two minor league franchises traded General Managers in 2003.

The Fort Myers Miracle traded GM Dave Burke and Golden Retriever "Rutgers" (their team mascot) to Hudson Valley for the Renegades' GM Steve Gliner. The wacky transaction made national news.

A native of the Brooklyn neighborhood of Canarsie, Gliner attended the University at Buffalo and SUNY Albany. He began his baseball career as a Public Relations intern with the Albany-Colonie Yankees of the Eastern League in 1988. In 1990, he moved to Charleston, SC where he was named Assistant General Manager of the Charleston Rainbows (now RiverDogs).

Following the 1993 season he joined the staff of the newly-formed Hudson Valley Renegades as Director of Sales and Marketing. Gliner helped develop the Renegades into one of the most successful franchises in the minor leagues, as the team sold out every home game for over a half decade.

Teaming up with his Goldklang Group counterparts Mike Veeck and Bill Murray, Gliner has been a catalyst for some of the most innovative promotions in sports, which have often garnered attention in many national publications and outlets.

A media favorite, Steve Gliner has become well known across the country, having made many television and radio appearances including ESPN2's Cold Pizza, The Imus In The Morning Show and The Howard Stern show.
