Biographical Information[edit]

One of the most famous publicists and promoters in baseball in the late 20th and early 21st century, Mike Veeck is the President of the Goldklang Baseball Group, which owns the Charleston RiverDogs, Fort Myers Miracle, St. Paul Saints, Hudson Valley Renegades and others. He is the son of Bill Veeck and grandson of Bill Veeck Sr. The Saints were pioneers in demonstrating that a team playing in the independent leagues in a market that already included a major league team, could be a financial success thanks to a ceaseless stream of promotions and a fan-friendly environment. His slogan for the team has been: "Fun Is Good".

He first made the news in 1979 when as a junior employee in the Chicago White Sox publicity department owned by his father, he organized the infamous Disco Demolition Night that turned into an on-field riot and forced the Sox to forfeit the second game of a doubleheader on July 12th. he took the blame for the unfortunate turn of events.
