Biographical Information

Outfielder Stan Edmonds was drafted by the California Angels in the 22nd round of the 1976 amateur draft. Going on to college instead, he was taken by the Cincinnati Reds in the 15th round of the 1980 amateur draft. He played well for Team USA in the 1980 Amateur World Series, leading the event with six doubles. Finally, the Seattle Mariners took him in the 16th round of the 1981 amateur draft.

He split 1981 between the Bellingham Mariners (.235/.316/.353 in 7 G) and Wausau Timbers (.258/.332/.412, 7 SB, 2 CS in 55 G). In 1982, he batted .255/.313/.398 with 17 homers, 84 RBI and 23 steals in 36 tries for Wausau. Only Iván Calderón had more homers or RBI for the team. He was 5th among M's farmhands in home runs, 4th in RBI (between Glenn Walker and Kevin King) and 11th in steals. Despite having some good numbers, it was his last season as a pro.
