Biographical Information[edit]
Sogen Miyake pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 3 years. His adoptive father is former NPB outfielder Takuzo Miyake.
Miyake was signed by the Lotte Orions in 1981, and he had a 4.36 ERA in 11 appearances in his rookie year. He joined the rotation in 1982, and he was 4-11 with a 5.26 ERA. He tied Norihiro Mizutani, Osamu Higashio, Tatsumi Murata, Yutaro Imai and Yoshio Fukazawa for 7th in losses in the Pacific League. Miyake was 0-4 with a 9.00 ERA in 1983, then the Orions traded him to the Yomiuri Giants for Koji Yamamoto. He never pitched a game for their big club, and he announced his retirement in 1985.
Overall, Miyake was 5-16 with a 5.80 ERA, struck out 127 and pitched 166 innings in 3 years in NPB.
