Smithson Stadium

From BR Bullpen

Smithson Stadium, located in Knoxville, Tennessee, was named after local councilman W.N. Smithson, who was responsible for bringing minor league baseball back to town. Opened in 1931, the park was home to the Knoxville Smokies clubs that played in the Southern Association, Tri-State League, and Mountain States League from 1931 to 1952 (with the exception of 1945).

The park was razed in 1953 in order to be replaced on the same spot by a new stadium, Knoxville Municipal Stadium.
