Biographical Information

Slater O'Brien has pitched in Belgian and for the Irish national team.

O'Brien struck out 60 in 46 1/3 IP as a senior, posting a 2.71 ERA and .166 opponent batting average. He had a 5.79 ERA as a college sophomore with 11 walks in 9 1/3 IP then pitched 3 1/3 shutout innings for the Irish team that won the 2018 C-Level European Championship. He gave up 10 runs in 7 innings as a junior. In the 2019 B-Level European Championship, he lasted only one inning in a loss to Adam Panayotovich and Serbia, finishing with a 13.50 ERA in two outings. He had a strikeout and a walk as a senior, facing two batters.

Signing with the Borgerhout Squirrels (where he was listed as O'Brian), he was 0-4 with a 6.97 ERA. He allowed only 21 hits and fanned 42 in 31 innings but walked 59. He finished third in the league in walks. He pitched for Ireland in the 2022 European Championship Qualifier, allowing three runs in two innings to close out the team's defeat at the hands of France.
