Biographical Information[edit]

Skip Pitlock had one career complete game. It came on August 3, 1970 as a member of the San Francisco Giants against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He gave up 4 hits, 2 unearned runs, walked 2 and struck out 9. It wasn't a good day for Pitlock at the plate as he was 0 for 4 with 4 strikeouts. He struck out in 18 of his 25 career at bats, but he did hit a home run in his next start on August 8th against the Houston Astros. The opposing pitcher was Wade Blasingame.

Skip pitched 18 games for the Giants that season, of which 15 were starts. He came back four years later in 1974 to pitch 40 games for the Chicago White Sox, of which 5 were starts. Then, with the White Sox in 1975, he made one brief appearance in relief - the final one of his career.

In the minors, he pitched seven years, both starting and relieving. With the 1970 Phoenix Giants, he went 10-3.

Born in Illinois, he went to high school and college in the same state. He was taken in the 11th round of the 1969 Amateur Draft out of Southern Illinois University, and two other future major leaguers were also drafted out of SIU that year, Mike Rogodzinski and Bill Stein.
