Biographical Information[edit]

Shuo-Cheng Wei pitched in the CPBL.

Wei represented Taiwan in the 2018 World University Championship, going 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA and 14 K in 10 IP; he beat Filip Čapka and the Czechs but lost the Gold Medal Game to Japan's Hiromu Ise. He was 5th in opponent average (.114, between Ka-Ho Sam Leung and Sheng-Hung Su), 8th in IP and 3rd in K (behind Jeong-o Lee and Ise). In the 2018 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he had a 1-1, 4.91 record, beating Colombia's Jhon Romero but dropping another to Japan (this time to Atsuki Taneichi). He allowed 3 hits, 4 walks and 4 runs (all earned) in 1 2/3 IP in the 2019 World Port Tournament; only Artur Strzalka had a higher ERA.

The CTBC Brothers selected him in the second round of the 2019 CPBL Draft, and he had a 7.36 ERA in 6 games in 2020. He was 3-6 with a 4.53 ERA in 2021, and he only pitched 2 games with the big club. Wei improved to 4-6 with a 2.24 ERA in the minors in 2022, and he led the league in ERA, losses, walks and starts. He was 3-2 with a 3.35 ERA in the minors in 2023, and he also pitched 23 games as a reliever with a 3.27 ERA for the big club.

Wei's repertoire includes a fastball (peak 91.9 mph), forkball, changeup, curveball and slider.
