Shota Ishimine has been an outfielder in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Ishimine was 1 for 8 for Japan in the 2008 Haarlem Baseball Week. In the 2010 World University Championship, he hit .458/.500/.708 with 9 runs and 9 RBI in six games. He tied Ryan Wright for 6th in the event in average He joined Yoenis Céspedes and Mikie Mahtook on the All-Star outfield as Japan won a Bronze Medal.

The Chiba Lotte Marines took him in the first round of the 2010 NPB draft. In his NPB debut, he replaced Shoitsu Omatsu in left field on April 14, 2011. He tripled off Shinichiro Koyama in the 8th inning, in his first at-bat. His first homer came on June 12, a 3-run blast off Yuya Fukui in an interleague game. He hit .235/.261/.329 for the season, with 6 triples and 32 steals in 38 tries. He tied Shogo Akiyama for 5th in the Pacific League in triples, was 4th in times hit by pitch (13) and ranked 4th in steals. He got 16 of 214 votes for the 2011 Pacific League Rookie of the Year Award, good for third behind Kazuhisa Makita and Takahiro Shiomi.

Ishimine saw little action in 2012 as the Marines' third-string left fielder behind breakout Katsuya Kakunaka and Saburo Omura. He went 12 for 60 with three walks, two doubles and a steal.
