Biographical Information[edit]
Shoji Tokai has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Tokai was on the Japanese national team in the 1959 Asian Championship as the country won its second title. The Yomiuri Giants signed him in 1960. Tokai couldn't got the starting spot due to his poor hitting, as his batting average was never above .220 in three seasons with the Giants.[1] He transferred to the Toei Flyers in 1964, but his batting average was a still-terrible .190/.258/.233. Tokai announced his retirement after the 1964 season. [2]
Overall, Tokai had hit .202/.272/.281 in 4 seasons in NPB.
