Biographical Information[edit]

Shinichi Nakamura played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 11 years.

Nakamura was signed by the Tokyo Senators when they were founded in 1936, and he hit .299/.440/.433 in the spring season. He led the JPBL with 16 runs and 3 triples. Nakamura slumped to .126/.237/.175 in the fall season, and he also led the league in strikeouts. He hit .228/.333/.310 in the spring season in 1937, and he recorded a .250/.400/.446 batting line in the fall season. Nakamura was then enlisted into the military, and he missed 3 years. Returning to the league in 1940, Nakamura joined the Tsubasa club but he was 1-for-11. He then batted .218/.390/.241 in 1941, and his batting line was .200/.308/.224 in 1942. Nakamura led the league with 397 plate appearances in 1943, but his batting line was .216/.359/.241. He jumped to the Kinsei Stars in 1946 after the War, and he hit .205/.300/.210 in 62 games. He batted .168/.227/.182 in 1947, then he announced his retirement.

Overall, Nakamura hit .208/.331/.252 with 372 hits and 14 triples in 8 years in NPB.
