Biographical Information[edit]

Shih-Fan Tsai played in the CPBL and TML for 4 years. He is the twin brother of Shih-Chin Tsai.

Tsai was drafted by the Taipei Gida in the second round of the 2000 TML draft, and he was selected into the 2000 TML All-Star Game. He ended up hitting .216/.283/.318 in 2000, and he improved to .226/.298/.321 in 2001. Tsai had a .226/.271/.311 batting line in 2002, then he was assigned to the First Financial Holdings Agan after the two leagues merged. However, Tsai slumped to .184/.295/.289 in 2003, and he was released. The Chinatrust Whales picked him up, but he only got 14 more at-bats with the big club until he announced his retirement in 2005. Tsai coached for TransWorld University from 2010 to 2013 after retiring, and he became the coach for Pai-Ho Vocational High School in 2023.

Overall, Tsai hit .218/.285/.308 with 96 hits in 4 seasons in the CPBL.
