Biographical information[edit]

Shawn Zarraga hit .714 as a high school senior, pitching well in addition, and was named Player of the Year for Palm Beach County. He was also named All-State, was a goalie for the school's soccer team and played table tennis competitively. He was planning on going to college at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro to study sports medicine, but the Milwaukee Brewers picked him in the 44th round of the 2007 amateur draft at the advice of scout Charlie Sullivan and he signed.

Zarraga hit .300/.432/.436 for the 2008 AZL Brewers, showing very good potential. He has split 2009 between A ball and the Pioneer League and was one of five catchers listed as candidates for the Dutch national team in the 2009 Baseball World Cup.

On December 18, 2014, the Brewers traded Shawn to the Los Angeles Dodgers in return for OF/IF Matt Long and P Jarret Martin.

In late August 2016, the Dodgers called Zarraga up from Oklahoma City as depth while the club awaited the arrival of Carlos Ruiz. He was with the club for only a day and did not get into a game.

Zarraga was active in the 2017 season, mostly in indie ball. He re-signed with the Dodgers in January 2018 but was released before the season started. Yet he persevered; signing with the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League at the end of August 2018, though he didn't play with them. .
