Biographical Information[edit]

Shao-Yu Lu pitched in the CPBL for 3 years.

Lu was drafted by the Brother Elephants in the 2nd round of the 2011 CPBL Draft. He debuted against the Lamigo Monkeys on March 24, 2012, and he only allowed a run in 6 1/3 innings to get his first career win. However, Lu struggled in the rest of the season, and he ended up 3-3 with a 6.54 ERA in his rookie year. He mainly stayed in the CPBL minors in 2013, and he only pitched 4 games with a 11.42 ERA with the big club. He was 4-9 with a 4.25 ERA in the minors, and he led the league in losses, starts innings and walks. Lu improved to a 3.32 ERA with 11 golds in 35 relief outings in the minors in 2014, and he led the league in ERA, appearances and holds.However, he only pitched 3 games with the big club, and he never had another appearance in the major league until he announced his retirement in 2016. Lu's repertoire included a fastball (peak 90 mph), slider, curveball and changeup.

Overall, Lu was 3-3 with a 7.33 ERA ,pitched 73 2/3 innings and struck out 28 in 3 seasons in the CPBL.
