Biographical Information[edit]
Sergio Escalona was signed by scout Sal Agostinelli for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2004. He made his pro debut for Tronconero 1 (VSL) that summer. Escalona spent 2005-2006 with the VSL Phillies before coming stateside in 2007.
Escalona accepted a 50-game suspension resulting from MLB's investigation of the Biogenesis Laboratories on August 5, 2013. He was in the minor leagues at the time.
